HUNTINGTON COUNTY HUMANE SHELTER,  INC.

We are a small, not-for-profit humane shelter operating on donations both private and corporate, fundraising, and grants.

We are an "all admitance" sheltering facility, dependant on adoptions and rescues for placement

of our animals.

Our rescue program is growing daily.

We are always looking for volunteer families that are willing to open their hearts and their homes

for our fostering program.  For more information on fostering please feel free to call our shelter

and talk to Mary.

As always we invite all to visit us anytime, we look forward to making new friends.

In January 2008 we launched a Capitol Campaign for a new facility.  The new facility is long overdue.

It is the hope of the Huntington County Humane Society that we will be able to begin construction in

2012 with the combined efforts of donations and fundraising.

"My Eyes"

Look into my eyes and tell me what you see.
A life that was filled with love and care,
but now I want and need.
Can you see in them my friends and family?
I tell you now, my past is just a mystery
I was once selected because I was so cute and fluffy.
But now I have been replaced as I seem a little too old and gruffy.
So, how can you love me so tender and sweet?
And cause I'm older, you just toss me to the street?
I was faithful, loyal and so very true
Please tell what . . .  I did to you!!
My dear friendly shelter worker, this is what I say,
That is why I'm not trusting anyone today.
You mean well as you handle me kindly and sweet.
I knew that touch and love before yes, just before the street!
Now can you understand the loneliness and my pain,
And why I don't want to go through life this way again.
Just look into my eyes and tell me what you see!!
